Frequently Asked Questions
â What is the Manual Leaderboard?
The Manual Leaderboard is a flexible scorekeeping system designed for team games and competitions. It allows you to create custom scoring sessions, track multiple groups/teams, award points based on your own criteria, and declare winners. It's perfect for trivia nights, office competitions, training sessions, or any team activity where you need to keep score.
â How do I create a new session?
Click "Create New Session" on the home page, then fill in:
- Company Name: Your organization name
- Project Name: The event or activity name
- Game Name: The specific game you're playing
- Session Date: Date of the session
- Password: A password to protect editing (minimum 4 characters)
- Scoring Options: Define how points are awarded (use templates or create custom options)
After creating the session, you'll receive a unique 8-character session code that you can share with others.
â What is a session code and how do I use it?
A session code is a unique 8-character identifier (e.g., "ABC12345") automatically generated when you create a session. Anyone with this code can view the leaderboard in real-time. To use it, click "Load Session" on the home page and enter the code. Viewers can see live scores, but they'll need the password to make changes (add groups, players, or award points).
â How do I add groups and players?
Once you're in a session with edit mode enabled:
- Add Groups: Use the "Add New Group" section at the top. Enter a group name (e.g., "Team Alpha") and click "Add Group"
- Add Players: Each group has an "Add Player" input at the bottom. Enter the player's name and click "â Add Player"
- Delete Groups/Players: Click the đī¸ or â buttons next to groups or players (this requires edit mode)
â How do I award points to players?
When in edit mode, each player has buttons next to their name corresponding to your scoring options. Simply click the appropriate button (e.g., "Correct +5", "Wrong 0") to instantly award those points. The scores update in real-time for all viewers. There's also an "âŠī¸ Undo" button to remove points if you make a mistake.
â What are scoring templates?
Scoring templates are pre-made configurations to save you time:
- Correct/Wrong: Correct = 5 pts, Wrong = 0 pts
- Yes/No: Yes = 1 pt, No = 0 pts
- Points: +10, +5, +1 point options
- Custom: Create your own scoring options with any names and point values
You can add, edit, or remove scoring options before creating the session.
â What does the Random Player picker do?
Each group has a "đ˛ Random" button that randomly selects one player from that group. This is useful for games where you need to choose who goes next, or for randomly selecting participants. The selected player's name will be shown in an alert.
â How do I finish the game and declare winners?
When the game is complete, click the "đ Finish Game" button (available in edit mode). This displays a beautiful winner modal showing: the winning group (highest total score), the overall champion player (highest individual score), all team members ranked by score, and final rankings of all groups. The modal includes confetti animations and detailed breakdowns!
â How do I find previous sessions?
Click "Previous Sessions" on the home page, then enter the Company Name and Project Name you used when creating the session. You'll see all sessions for that company/project combination, including the winner, total groups, players, and scores. Click "Open" on any session to view its full details.
â Can multiple people view the same session at once?
Yes! Share the session code or copy the session link using the "đ Copy Link" button. Everyone with the link can view the live leaderboard and see scores update in real-time. However, only people with the password can enable edit mode to make changes.
â What happens if I forget my session password?
Unfortunately, passwords are securely hashed and cannot be recovered. You'll still be able to view the session, but you won't be able to edit it (add groups, players, or award points). Make sure to save your password in a safe place when creating a session. As a workaround, you can create a new session with the same details.
â Are scores saved automatically?
Yes! All scores and changes are automatically saved to the database in real-time. You don't need to click a "Save" button. Even if you refresh the page or come back later, all your data will be preserved. Sessions remain in the database permanently until manually deleted.
